Microfluidic-based devices are capable of performing a wide range of organic reactions.
Depending on the requirements, iX-factory can fabricate micro reactors in glass and silicon.
Micro reactors consist of channels with diameters ranging from 50 to 3000 µm, whereby the basic
material can be glass, silicon and others. With the conjunction of two chemical components in
these micro channels, the chemical reaction starts. The basic chemical components are fed into
the process continuously. The small volume of a micro reactor ensures a lower risk and
the flow control is improved.
Through the adaption of the micro reactor design it is possible to optimize for a variety of
different chemical reactions, i.e. the combination of several process steps in one reactor
allows the reaction time to be adjusted to even shorter process times. The total selectivity
in the micro reactor can be doubled. Energy consumption as well as the input of the chemical
components can be reduced by half. Micro reactors are employed more effective and secure.
The risk of uncontrolled chemical reaction is reduced.
Micro reactors have the potential to be applied in all chemical and bio-chemical applications.
iX-factory supports its clients to make micro reactors commercially viable, in order for them
to be adopted in laboratories, research institutes and in the technical industry.
