The process development of the MEMS scanning mirrors was done at iX-factory, Germany and LioniX, The Netherlands. The advantages of this collaboration, which are critical for start−up companies like bTendo Lts., Yaron Fein summarized as follows: The very fast and flexible response time allowed short loops in optimizing the process parameters during development. The will to experiment and innovate was carried by the professional competence through all stages. The economical cost model with short runs – "pay as you go" and the ability to start small-medium productions allows the technological transfer without paying high NRE costs. [Non-recurring engineering (NRE) refers to the one-time cost of researching, developing, designing, and testing a new product] |
